Your Support is ASOME!
YOU have given FARM STEW the fuel to successfully finish its first university course for 34 medical students at the Adventist School of Medicine in Kigali, Rwanda! Your students learned and developed a wider understanding of poverty and how they can use tools to reach communities in their home. But don’t take our word for it! Let's hear from your students!
“I like the fact that it linked the concepts of gardening and protection of nature to the word of God, for I like drawing lessons from the Bible, and I never thought that I could find such a message in the verses of the Bible. I also like that it triggered a more holistic vision of medicine in my life. The class was focused on the lifestyle of people, especially those who are exceedingly poor. In a nutshell, this class made me understand that if I want a healthier world, I must promote a healthier lifestyle, and not merely give prescriptions to a bunch of patients.”
“The class taught me ways to prevent depression and I liked it. This is because sometimes I feel I don't want anything and I isolate myself, and I think these are signs of depression. So I use the technique I learnt from the class to prevent this by having fun with my colleagues and singing.”
“The variety of content that was offered was diverse and the data used was obtained from many different parts of Africa. They were as well punctual in getting to class and always had a daily devotion with us before the class. They also like to use well-made presentations and visual aids.”
“The class has empowered me to know the different nutrient rich foods that one can plant in a kitchen garden to increase the nutritious content of their family through research-based assignments about the plants we liked and wanted to put in our gardens.”
“Firstly, I love and think gardening is beautiful. I was happy that I was going to have a class for it. Secondly, I was happy that science and real life experience in the community was the basis of the lecture. Lastly, I loved the interaction between the teacher and the students.”
My wife Alyssa and I are now preparing for next semester's practical FARM STEW course where students will be solely focused in the garden. This course has been made possible because of your gifts and desire to bring the Recipe for an Abundant Life to the world!
